911 3.2 Carrera Targa G50 (1988)
£45,995
911 3.2 Carrera Targa Sport (G50 Gearbox). First registered 29/04/1988 E-Registration. Finished in Guards Red with Black leather Sports Seats, piped red. Supplied new by Charles Follett, London. Acquired through a good customer of ours who purchased the car 23 years ago, back in 2002 at a mileage of 117,000. Covering a mere 5000 miles in 23 years, he’s maintained the car to a high standard using a combination of Camtune, Porsche Centre Byfleet and in recent years, the well regarded specialist, PARR.
Structurally and mechanically the car is solid, the interior condition is excellent, panels are original and the Targa top fits nicely with none of the usual wind noise characteristic of an ill-fitting roof. The forged Fuch alloys all retain their original anodised finish, the car drives particularly well and it looks good underneath when ramp inspected. Service history is full and detailed with supporting MOT’s, invoices, old tax discs, original service book, manuals and all appropriate keys. A total of 28 services have been undertaken (all stamped) with significant investments made in addition to routine maintenance.
The issue, and the reason why we’ve decided to price the car so competitively is down to the paintwork being, a ‘patchwork quilt’ of reds. The front end and drivers side aren’t too bad, though not perfect, whilst the colour match between the near side rear quarter to door is horrific (clearly evident in the pictures). Our bodyshop is stacked with work and our insistence on doing things properly would result in a full respray, something we’re struggling to accommodate from a workload perspective. This absolutely isn’t a structural restoration more a cosmetic make-over. By not doing the work and offering the car, as is, we’re giving the buyer an opportunity to acquire a car that ordinarily we’d sell for significantly more money. Any work required here is elective rather than necessary. One could decide to do selective paint or bite the bullet and paint the whole car as and when time and funds permit. Regardless, underneath the skin, a better 3.2 Carrera won’t be available at this price point. The car is so much better than the current paintwork suggests and represents quite the opportunity. Our buyer Tom really rates the car and would be happy to discuss it in detail with any prospective buyer.
